WE ARE HIRING:
IN-HOUSE BOOKING AGENT
We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-oriented in-house booker to oversee the end-to-end booking, marketing and administration of live music in our venue.
You will work closely with artists, agents and promoters to ensure every show is contracted, marketed and delivered as smoothly as possible.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Forward looking role. The face of the Hotel’s live music. The host with the most. As our dedicated booker:
you are responsible for negotiating the engagement details such as performance fees, in-house technical services and times of set-up, sound check and performance with the agent, the artist or the artist’s manager.
you will be responsible for quality control of the entertainment and its delivery.
At the back end, you will be responsible for dealing with the ticketing service provider (Oztix) and our bookkeeper to ensure payments are processed correctly.
The Face
As our face, you will:
Be the face of music at the hotel.
As and when required, liaise with government and council and media regarding all things live music at the Hamo.
Be required to attend industry related workshops, conferences, gatherings and meetings to represent the Hamo.
Maintain positive relationships with representatives of the media.
Be the interface with staff, outside consultants, acts and promoters.
Be professional.
Have excellent public speaking skills.
Be commitment to our venue and philosophy.
Booking
As our booker you will:
Coordinate and book live shows delivering shows on Wednesday to Sunday inclusive.
When required, you will take the time to match regional bands (Country-NSW- based-bands) with local bands (Newcastle-based-bands) and touring acts.
Liaise with artists, agents and promoters throughout the booking process.
Negotiate and confirm event and booking details
Ensure contracts are accurate and correctly executed
Maintain venue booking calendars
Keep internal systems up to date
Marketing
In respect of marketing, you will:
Gather artist bios, imagery, video, and artwork assets
Coordinate event announcement, on-sale and marketing
Plan and execute marketing campaigns
Update venue advertising
Use your knowledge of social networking to advertise and promote gigs.
Conceptualize and develop promotional materials and campaigns around specific events.
Manage and maintain all social networking sites and website content
Identify markets for and place advertisements and promotional activities.
Identify opportunities for media coverage.
The Gig
In respect of each gig you will:
Collect artist riders and tech specs
Maintain show folders and event documentation
Prepare event worksheets
Make sure the nights run as smoothly as possible
The Review
You will:
On a weekly basis, meet with the venue licensee and owner (for a debrief in respect of all things music).
critically analyse live music at the venue and look for opportunities
Keep an eye on all grant opportunities and assist with submissions as necessary.
Your skillset:
Your skills and attributes will include:
You understand the Hamo … and what musical genres suit our establishment …and the customer demographic of the venue.
You are personable and you are able to deal with artists, artist management, booking agents, venue management and venue patrons.
You are a hospo person at heart. Ideally with an RSA and RCG certificate.
A minimum of 3 years working at a venue of similar capacity preferred
A strong contact base within the music industry, with an emphasis on live music
A strong knowledge of the operation of the music industry, including an understanding of the going rates for different sorts of acts.
An understanding of the current live music scene.
You are highly organised
You have a broad understanding of marketing and development strategies and techniques.
You have a strong drive.
FLEXIBILITY
Full time or part time. Although this is advertised as a full time position, we are willing to consider candidates for this position on a part time basis (which may not include all of the above duties).
